During our second Live Training Session (LTS), the Course Facilitator (CF) passionately emphasized the importance of taking just five minutes before each client session to ground ourselves. This practice is crucial! It allows us to settle our energy into a neutral space, preparing us in a calm, centered manner. Those first few seconds—just 3 to 7—when meeting someone new, especially a client, are pivotal. That’s when their first impression of us is formed.
After her inspiring introduction, she announced that every week, we would kick off our LTS the same way and called for volunteers. There were no strict “rules,” just a gentle reminder to be respectful. It could be a meditation, a story, a splash of humor—anything that helps us ease into that relaxed, serene mindset.
“Any volunteers?” My heart raced with a whirlwind of excitement and uncertainty. I felt vulnerable yet electrified by the potential for growth. What could I share? How could I bring calm to my twelve teammates, especially when I barely knew them? What if they judged me? Whoa… the apprehension! But deep down, a spark urged me on. I wanted to embrace this opportunity despite my fears.
“Anyone?” YES!! I shot my hand up high. I was bursting with enthusiasm! As the week unfolded, I felt a surge of energy wash over me. Ideas flowed like a river as I jotted them down with reckless abandon! I wanted to convey a powerful message: they are safe, they have unwavering support within our group, and their feelings are valid. There’s no need to show up at their 100% best every week. It’s perfectly okay to be their authentic selves. I poured my heart into writing, revising, and rewriting, fueled by my enthusiasm. I recorded myself, practiced in person, and even over Facetime.
LTS sessions take place from 8-10 PM on Tuesday nights. After waking up at 5:30 AM, it’s a long day, but I was pumped! At 6 PM, I made significant adjustments, deepening my message. Then, at 7:22 PM, I recorded one last time—it was official! I was ready! At 8:10, I led my group’s very first opening, and guess what? It was absolutely FABULOUS! When the facilitator asked who wanted to lead next week, there was a few moments of silence. I nearly shot my hand up again because I wanted to do this every week! But, I held back until someone eventually volunteered.
What did I discover? I LOVED this! I seem to thrive on guiding others into a safe, calming space, and I’m inspired to continue exploring this incredible journey!
